What is a spinal adjustment?

A spinal adjustment (or manipulation) is a precise, controlled force applied to a joint that isn't moving properly. The aim is to restore normal movement to that joint, reduce surrounding muscle tension, and take pressure off nearby nerves. It's the core technique chiropractors use to address restricted mobility and joint-related pain.

What does it actually feel like?

Most patients feel a quick stretch or pressure, sometimes followed by a "pop" or "crack" sound — that's simply gas releasing from the joint fluid, not bones moving out of place. It's generally not painful, and many people feel looser and more mobile immediately afterwards. Some mild soreness for a day or so is normal, similar to how you might feel after light exercise.

Is it safe?

Chiropractic adjustments are a well-established, evidence-informed treatment when performed by a registered chiropractor who has assessed your health history and current condition first. Before any adjustment, Dr Theo reviews your history, examines your posture and movement, and explains exactly what he's planning to do and why — so there are no surprises.

How many adjustments will I need?

This varies from person to person. Some people feel significant relief after one or two visits; others with longer-standing issues benefit from a short structured course of care. Dr Theo will give you a clear, realistic plan after your initial assessment rather than locking you into a generic package.
